Ceanothus impressus Trel.
Habit: Plant open to dense. Stem: ascending to erect; twigs flexible, not thorn-like, dark brown to gray-brown. Leaf: alternate, evergreen; stipules scale-like; petiole 1--4 mm; blade 5--25 mm, 4--15 mm wide, generally flat, widely ovate to +- round, adaxially dark green, puberulent, furrowed along veins, abaxially densely short-hairy, 1-ribbed from base, tip acute to obtuse, margin thick to rolled under, generally minutely gland-toothed Inflorescence: umbel- to +- raceme-like, 1--3.5 cm. Flower: blue. Fruit: 3--4 mm wide, +- 3-ridged; horns 0.
