Trifolium cyathiferum Lindl.
Habit: Annual, small to robust, +- glabrous. Stem: ascending to erect. Leaf: cauline; stipules entire or deeply toothed, tip acuminate; leaflets 1--3 cm, oblanceolate to obovate. Inflorescence: head-like, 6--20 mm wide, 3--many-flowered; involucre bowl-shaped, margin wavy, finely toothed. Flower: calyx 7--11 mm, lower, lateral lobes +- = tube, bristle tips generally forked; corolla +- <= calyx, white or +- yellow, pink-tipped. Fruit: stalk-like base short. Seed: 1--2. Chromosomes: 2n=16.
Ecology: Generally spring-moist valleys, chaparral, roadcuts, forest; Elevation: < 2500 m. Bioregional Distribution: NW, CaR, n&c SN, GV, n SNE; Distribution Outside California: to British Columbia, Idaho, Nevada. Flowering Time: May--Aug
