| Editorial Comments 1 | Correspondence 1 indicates that there is a consensus (among the listed correspondents) that the undoubted misspelling of a person's name in a protolog intended to honor that person (in this case, "gambellii" for William Gambel) in fact is considered an orthographic error that is correctable under Article 60.1 of ICBN [St. Louis Code], and that, in addition, since there is no evidence that Gambel ever spelled his name "Gambell" (although evidently he had, before publication of this name, changed it from "Gamble", according to information provided by John Strother), it is permissible, under Art. 60.1, to correct the spelling of this epithet despite the fact that the original spelling was retained in publishing the combinations Nasturtium gambellii (S. Watson) O. E. Schulz as well as Rorippa gambellii (S. Watson) Rollins & Al-Shehbaz, both based on Cardamine gambellii S. Watson.
