| Editorial Comments 1 | Correspondence 1 indicates that the correct spelling of the epithet is "epilobioides" because that is how Greene spelled it in the protologue (Fl. Francis. 2: 216), and that because in the protologue the taxon is said to occur from Oregon to San Diego, and probably more importantly, because the name later was lectotypified by Raven with a specimen from Los Angeles, it is incorrect to say the taxon does not occur in CA. [Therefore, spelling of epithet corrected to Oenothera contorta Douglas var. epilobioides (Greene) Munz, from Oenothera contorta Douglas var. epiloboides (Greene) Munz previously in this Index, 20 Aug 2012.] | |||||
