Student Scholarship and Volunteer Positions Available!

Scholarships and volunteer positions for undergraduate and graduate students.

The Jepson Herbarium strives to provide educational opportunities to a broad audience of individuals who are passionate about botanical studies. We are dedicated to fostering inclusivity and enhancing opportunities for workshop participation.

Scholarship Opportunities

This year, with a gift from a generous donor, we are excited to offer scholarship opportunities for students who may face obstacles in attending our workshops. Scholarships will cover the registration fees of a Jepson workshop. We cannot cover the cost of travel and accommodations. These scholarships provide an opportunity to network, learn from some of the best botanists in California, and gain in-depth knowledge about the California flora!

Volunteer Opportunities

We are also offering volunteer opportunities. Each year, students assist with the logistics of our workshop program. One student is chosen for each workshop, and can only volunteer for one workshop per year. Upon selection, student volunteers are expected to help with some pre-workshop logistics (ex. collecting plant specimens, scouting workshop sites, etc.) and during-workshop tasks (ex. washing dishes, picking up food, general cleanup, etc.). Workshop registration costs are waived for the student volunteer.

If you are interested in either opportunity, please fill out this scholarship form at least eight weeks prior to the workshop you are interested in attending.

You will be notified at least six weeks in advance of that workshop if you have been selected.

Thank you for your interest in these opportunities!
