NATIVE Habit: Annual, erect. Stem: 1.5--20(25) cm, simple or branched above base. Leaf: 9--29 mm, thread-like to linear, young leaves woolly, subglabrous in age, entire or 3-lobed at base. Inflorescence: heads terminal, sometimes also axillary, with +- 3--9 flowers (axillary heads sometimes 1-flowered); bracts entire to 3-lobed, woolly. Flower: calyx (4)5.5--6.25(7) mm, woolly, lobes subequal to unequal; corolla (5)5.8--6.9(7) mm, narrowly funnel-shaped, tube 2.9--3.4 mm, +- 1/2 corolla length, white, throat 0.8--1.3 mm, white to cream, tube + throat (3)3.7--4.7(5) mm, lobes not always spreading widely when open, 2.0--2.4 mm, white to very pale blue, often with few lavender streaks on or near veins; stamens included 0.2 mm below corolla sinus to exserted 0.5 mm above the sinus, attached 1.1--1.6(2) mm below sinuses, free portion (1.5)1.75--2(2.5) mm, equal to subequal, anthers (0.3)0.8 mm; pistil 4--5 mm, exserted or included +- same as stamens, ovules 9--14 total, 3--5 per ovary chamber.
