Habitat  ?   SITE IS A PORTION OF AN OLD DIKE THAT CONTROLLED RIVER FLOODING AND IRRIGATION FOR A FARM. IT SITS ON AN OLD STREAM TERRACE ALONG THE MERCED RIVER THAT IS NOW USED AS A RESIDENTIAL AREA. IT IS DOMINATED BY LIVE OAK (QUERCUS CHRYSOLEPIS AND Q. WISLIZENI) WITH A DENSE UNDERSTORY OF TOXICODENDRON DIVERSILOBUM. PINUS PONDEROSA SAPLINGS AND RHAMNUS RUBRA MAKE UP A PORTION OF THE SHRUB LAYER. HERBACEOUS LAYER IS SPARSE AND INCLUDES PELLAEA ANDROMEDIFOLIA, TORILIS NODOSA (ALIEN), CLARKIA UNGUICULATA AND LUPINUS BICOLOR. NO OBVIOUS EVIDENCE OF FIRE, FLOODING OR GRAZING. SLOPE IS 18 DEGREES. ASPECT IS 160 DEGREES. SURFICIAL GEOLOGY IS GRANITIC ALLUVIUM. COWARDIN SYSTEM IS UPLAND. SOIL TEXTURE IS SANDY LOAM. SOIL IS MODERATELY WELL DRAINED. PLANT ALIANCE IS QUERCUS WISLIZENI WOODLAND ALLIANCE. PLANT ASSOCIATION IS QUERCUS WISLIZENI-QUERCUS CHRYSOLEPIS WOODLAND.
