Habitat  ?   dissected old erosional surface with relatively gentle relief, compared with steep-sided ridges to the east. Chaparral with Adenostoma sparsifolium, A. fasciculatum, Ceanothus greggii var. perplexans, and Arctostaphylos glauca on thin soils over granitic bedrock. Shallow drainages with small pocket meadows of Muhlenbergia rigens and Juncus macrophullus 
Notes  ?   erect annual, petals and anthers yellow, basal leaves entire. Locally common on sandy bences along steam, and away from stream in ares with vernal seepage
