Habitat  ?   Riparian and adjacent barrens, bentle to steep slopes, limestone scree and broken rock, with Quercus lobata, Salix, Toxicodendron diversilobum, Centaurea solstitialis, Artemisia douglasiana. 
Notes  ?   Infrequent, perennial. Erect, to 1.5 m tall. Sap milky, heads ligulate, outer flowers white, rose-striped externally, inner flowers white.
