Habitat  ?   Rocky hillsde. Slope c. 22 °, facing N2E to S72E. Quartz monzonite, quartz diorite and granite gneiss. Assoc. with Encelia actoni, Eriogonum fasciculatum, Ephedra nevadensis, Physalis crassifolia, Mirabilis laevis, Ambrosia dumosa, Stephanomeria pauciflora, Bebbia juncea aspera, Krameria erecta, Bouteloua aristidoides, Amaranthus fimbriatus. 
Notes  ?   Annual, locally abundant in open areas on northeast-facing slope, in small drainage, and on hilltops, 6000+ plants.
