Habitat  ?   Canyon slopes and bottoms with oak forest over much of area, but also with remnants of landscaping from abandoned houses, chaparral and patches of coastal sage scrub. 
Notes  ?   Uncommon perennial with succulent leaves. Persisting 8 years from cultivation in old gardens and expanding slowly into oak woods by vegetative spread. Plants healthy and producing fruit; appear to be thrivng without care.
