Habitat  ?   Chaparral with Adenostoma fasciculatum, Arctostaphylos glandulosa, Quercus X acutidens, Lotus scoparius, Helianthemum scoparium, Ceanothus, Mimulus aurantiacus. Area burned in the last few years. Rocky sandy loams. 
Notes  ?   Shrub to 1.5 m tall, flowers blue, stems green-yellow, leaves small and slightly bicolored, very thorny and compact branches. Note: not white-stemmed and more thorny than typical C. leucodermis.
