Notes  ?   Glumes 28-36 mm. long, entirely awn-like, 1-nerved channeled on axial side, Spikelets 1-flowered, and rudiment. Lemma 7-8 mm. long, very scabrous, with 3 purplish (not prominent) nerves extending to base. Awn of lemma 75-95 mm. long, flattened flexuous and somewhat twisted.; Specimen used for illustration in Flora North America Volume 24 (M. Barkworth et al., editors), by L. A. Vorobik, 1997-2002
