Habitat  ?   Ridge top and moderate to steep slopes. Decomposing serpentine. 
Morphology Notes  ?   Associates: Cupressus sargentii, Adenostoma fasciculatum, Arctostaphylos obispoensis, Garrya flavescens, Eriodictyon californicum, Ceanothus cuneatus, Chlorogalum pomeridianum, Pedicularis densiflora, Achnatherum coronatum. Very locally common. Annual. Erect to ascending, to 25 cm tall. Herbage generally reddish. Basal leaves + fleshy. Heads ligulate. Corollas white, dorsally red-striped.
