Common and / or scattered in open areas in dappled sunlight along the creek where the riparian zone is fairly narrow (none were seen in the large Carex dominated meadow further upstream). Plant height and size of flowers and inflorescences varied tremendously with actual location of the specimen. Plants with _ inch wide flowers on 6 inch tall plants were found in the drier areas, while plants with 1 inch wide flowers on 2 foot tall plants were found in very wet (to nearly inundated) sites. Plants seemed to be most common where the riparian corridor (herbaceous vegetation) was only 6 to 12 feet wide.
