Morphology Notes  ?   Steep mountains composed of Pre-Cenozoic granitic and metamorphic rocks, with sparse desert shrubs. Steep ridges and slopes, with canyon bottoms had a medley size of rocks and boulders. Canyon bottom had areas with heavy sand too. The canyon drains northwest, then turns sharply south parallel with the road. Canyon is incised into the bajada, with a loose, sandy slope at this area, and a wider wash of a bottom. Associated shrubs include: Larrea tridentata, Ambrosia dumosa, Krameria erecta, Hyptis emoryi, Eriogonum fascicualtum flavoviride, Encelia farinosa, Pleurocoronis pluriseta, Peucephyllum schottii, Crossosoma bigelovii, Yucca schidigera, Nolina bigelovii, Acacia greggii, (with Phoradendron californicum on it, within canyon bottoms), Xylorhiza tortifolia, Hymenoclea salsola, Trixis californica, Adenophyllum porophylloides, Bebbia juncea aspera, and Viguiera parishii. Many annuals too, with some already pass flowering. Growing on island of bedrock, that juts out of the bajada, just north of canyon.
