Growing on hill and SW facing slope of hill, above river on north side, in pine duff. Other associated species include. Pinus jeffreyi, Juniperus occidentalis australis, Arctostaphylos patula, A. pringlei drupacea, Artemisia tridentata, Chrysothamnus nauseosus, Tetradymia canescens, Eriophyllum confertiflorum, Erigeron sp., Castilleja x montigena, Eriogonum wrightii subscaposum, Ceanothus greggii, Galium parishii, Tauschia parishii, Agoseris retrorsa, Achillea millefolium and Bromus tectorum.
