Locality  ?   Western San Gabriel Mountains, north of Sylmar and south of Santa Clarita, within the Tuhunga Ranger District of the Angeles National Forest. Upper Sombrero Canyon, just below western end of Sombrero Road (3N64).  
Habitat  ?   Steep slopes with chaparral of Adenostoma fasciculatum, ceanothus crassifolius, Quercus dumosa, and Arctostaphylos glandulosa. Canyon Bottom with Quercus agrifolia, Platanus racemosa, Salix lasiolepis, Artemisia douglasiana and Toxicodendron. 
Morphology Notes  ?   Steep slopes with chaparral of Adenostoma fasciculatum, Ceanothus crassifolius, Quercus dumosa, and Arctostaphylos glandulosa, canyon bottom with Quercus agrifolia, Platanus racemosa, Salix lasiolepis, Artemisia douglasiana, and Toxicodendron. Annual, flowers reddish-purple, zygomorphic; infloresence axis erect, buds nodding. Locally common, grassy openings in chaparral, near canyon bottom.
