Locality  ?   Colorado Desert, Western Salton Basin, 27 km due WNW of Westmorland. Flats 0-2 km E of confluence of Carrizo and San Filipe Creeks.  
Habitat  ?   Dominant tree over most of desert flats and dry washes, in all but very saline soils, where it still occurs infrequently. Desert flats and dry washes. Low woody scrubland. 
Associates  ?   Prosopis glandulosa var. Torreyana, Atriplex canescens, Larrea tridentata, Oligomeris linifolia, Cryptantha maritima. 
Morphology Notes  ?   Often forms dense woodland but usually occurs as +/- widely spaced dense clump-hummocks with various shrubs to annuals to nothing in between.
