Morphology Notes  ?   This was about the lower limit for the Burney Spring Grove. The dominant forest cover was Ponderosa Pine with some Abies concolor. Here the Cypress trees were growing in a dried up seasonal water course. Here the lay of the land was comparatively level. Rocky and sandy soil, volcanic in origin. Maybe here the Cypress trees were to be found for about 4-5 miles in one direction - mostly along said seasonal water courses - and maybe 1/2 mile in the other direction. This was the second largest Cypress tree that I found in the Burney Spring Region. It is interesting to note this material was collected 30 sections south and 1 township west of where Nos. 40-41-42 were collected (type region). DBH 35.0140 inches. Estimated height at 75-100 feet. Picture # 3-514 125 5 by O.V. Matthews July 23, 1939. Picture # 3-513 124 4 of whole tree, on back of sheet.
