Habitat  ?   Rocky canyon facing N05E. Wash sloping ca. 2-20 degrees (average ca. 12). Banks sloping ca. 35 degrees facing S82W and 30-50 degrees facing due east. Boulders and coarse sand wash; boulders, talus, and rock outcrops on banks. Clay, silt, gravel, and loam soil, 10YR 3&slo;2 very dark grayish brown. Earlier Precambrian metamorphic rocks. Mojave desert scrub. Growing in crack between rocks, in shade, on east-facing slope.
