Habitat  ?   Extensive area of open annual grassland on gentle terrain of ridgetop with steeper slopes having dense chaparral, and in more mesic situations, open woodland of pines. Soils well drained decomposed granite with scattered outcrops of granite boulders. Grassland with Bromus hordeaceus, Bromus tectorum, Avena fatua, Avena barbata, Amsinckia menziesii var. menziesii, Amsinckia tessellata, Eschscholzia californica, Corethrogyne filaginifolia. Surrounding steeper slopes with scrub of Quercus john-tuckeri, Adenostoma fasciculatum, Ceanothus cuneatus, Eriogonum fasciculatum, and Pinus sabiniana.
