Habitat  ?   Wash of coarse sand sloping about 6 degrees S51E, and gentle rocky hillsides. Quartz monzonite hillside and Pleistocene alluvium wash. Mojave desert scrub. 
Associates  ?   Yucca brevifolia, Pinus monophylla, Ambrosia salsola, Acacia greggii, Cylindropuntia, annual Mentzelia, Chaenactis stevioides, Phacelia distans, Yucca schidigera, Prunus fasciculata, Ephedra, Lycium, Larrea tridentata, Erodium cicutarium, Bromus tectorum, Nama, Eriogonum maculatum, Xylorhiza tortifolia, Chylismia claviformis subsp. claviformis, Emmenanthe penduliflora var. penduliflora, Eschscholzia minutiflora, Bahiopsis parishii. Shrub; locally frequent on southeast-facing hillside. About 200 plants in this area.
