Habitat  ?   Coniferous forest dominated by Pinus lambertiana, P. jeffreyi, and Abies concolor; understory relatively open, or with scattered shrubs such as Quercus chrysolepis, Ceanothus leucodermis, Rhamnus californica (s.l.), Artemisia tridentatum, Chrysothamnus nauseousus, etc. Understory associates include Eriogonum wrightii subscaposum, E. umbellatum munzii, Poa secunda, Erysimum capitatum, Galium jepsonii, Lotus davidsonii, Pedicularis semibarbata, etc.

Morphology Notes  ?   Annual, scattered locally, not uncommon. Basal leaves in a rosette, somewhat cobwebby; inflorescence branches spreading, glandular; corolla with narrow tube (purple), broad throat (yellow below, purple above), and expanded limb: lobes rich purple distally, bluish at junction with throat. Styles lavender, exserted beyond corolla lobes; filaments exserted to ca. 3⁄4 the corolla lobe length; pollen blue.
