Locality  ?   Bitter Creek National Wildlife Refuge; far west end of the San Emigdio Mountains. Unit 11 area. Southwest of Pelato Peak and Cerro Noroeste Road.; Ballinger Canyon 7.5′Started off a dirt road near 34.91 N, 119.42 W. Headed southeast and stopped by 34.90 N, 119.41 W, then proceeded west northwest to 34.90 N, 119.42 W, (the north slope of this spot had nice woodland of Pinus monophylla&slo; Quercus john-tuckeri above this tributary that drains into Ballinger Canyon), then back to starting point.

Morphology Notes  ?   Gentle rolling country side with deep, dry draws. Some areas had a beautiful black cryptogamic crust over a white shale soil. Shrubs include: Juniperus californica, Ericameria linearifolia, Eriogonum fasciculatum polifolium, Yucca whipplei. Some annuals and herbaceous Perennials include: Lasthenia gracilis, Salvia columbariae, Ancistrocarphus filagineus, Erodium cicutarium, Eriophyllum pringlei, Phacelia fremontii, P. douglasii, Anisocoma acaulis, Lomatium utriculatum, Pholistoma membranaceum, Leptosiphon parviflorus, Camissonia campestris, Coreopsis bigelovii. Stylomecon heterophylla, Emmenanthe penduliflora, Lupinus microcarpus, Eremalche parryi kernensis, and Collinsia heterophylla. Flower tube purple, Throat yellow, limbs pink.
