Habitat  ?   Growing along shoulder of road and beyond on slopes near road. Associated with other plants that came up the first year after the fire include: Camissonia californica, Bromus diandrus, B. madritensis rubens, Calyptridium monandrum, Hirschfeldia incana, Cryptantha muricata, Schismus barbatus, Filago gallica, Erodium cicutarium, Centaurea melitensis, Avena barbara, Resprouting from bases of burned shrubs were mostly Malosma laurina, Adenostoma fasciculatum and Yucca whipplei. Brickellia californica, Melica imperfecta, Eriogonum elongatum and Galium angustifolium were coming back on roadcuts or steeper areas. One Senecio flaccidus douglasii shrub and one seedling of Juglans californica were observed, plus a patch of Eriodictyon crassifolium were resprouted. Eriogonum fasciculatum seedlings and Marah macrocarpus vines were plentiful.
