Spreading annual with light-purple fls, in disturbed openings on granitic sandy soils, sometimes w- other Erodium in more weedy areas. Cattle-grazed site on SE-sloping bajada, otherwise with dense catclaw and buckwheat scrubs where undeveloped. California Buckwheat Scrub Succession. Associated species: Acacia gregii, Chilopsis linearis, Eriogonum fasciculatum, E. gracile, Croton californicus, Eremocarpa setigerus, Dichelostemma capitatum, Plagiobothrys canescens, Cryptantha intermedia, Camissonia pallida, E. strigulosa, Lupinus bicolor, Schismus and Bromus rubens.
