Locality  ?   Liebre Mountains. 'Cottonwood Swamp' . Confluence of San Francisquito Canyon stream and two tributaries draining off the southeast slopes of Red Mountain. Dissected by San Francisquito Canyon Road. Ca. 50 meters southeast of the road.  
Habitat  ?   Broad marshy area. Overstory dominated by Populus fremontii, Salix laevigata, and S. lasiolepis. In shady understory near margin of small rivulet. Understory associates included Euthamia occidentalis, Urtica holosericea, Rorippa nasturtium-aquaticum, and Rubus ursinus. 
Notes  ?   Locally scarce shrub.
