Locality  ?   Two miles west of intersection of Alba Road and State Highway #9, along Alba Road. About 100 yards east along road from Alba School.  
Habitat  ?   Dense Redwood forest. This area has been logged; stumps 6-7 feet in diameter not uncommon. Understory composed of: Trillium ovatum, Oxalis oregana, Myrica californica, Lithocarpus densiflora (seedlings and a few small trees), Vaccinium ovatum, Woodwardia fimbriata, Asarum caudatum, Viola sempervirens, Acer macrophyllum (occasionally), Smilacina amplexicaulis, Rubus parviflorus, Equisetum sp. Soil rich and black with a deep layer of litter over it. Growing in moist streambed near a spring which is probably perennial. 
Notes  ?   No plants in flower at this date. Colony consists of about 1/2 dozen individuals.
