Habitat  ?   In and along road where chaparral has been cleared for a fire break; Greenstone derived soil. There are extensive patches of stump-sprouting chamise, Eriodictyon californicum, Pickeringia montana. The herbaceous cover includes the late-summer blooming Echium plantagineum, Epilobium brachycarpum, and Hemizonia congesta luzulifolia
