Canyon between high rocky slopes, large sandy and gravelly wash, rocky bench above wash; assoc. with Senegalia, Larrea, Hyptis emo., Bebbia, Prosopis glandulosa, Lycium ander., Sphaeralcea ambigua, Parkinsonia flo., Encelia farin., Trixis, etc. Growing on bench at bend of wash.
Uncommon 2--3 m shrub, c. 7 m across; fls. dull yellow, mostly in bud. Separate stalks of open flowers from a second clump a short distance down canyon.
