Notes^?	Lvs. alternate. Photograph of the type in the British Museum; the name in Nuttall′s handwriting. At Kew there is one small piece labeled by Nuttall: ″*macrocarpus″; this has alternate lvs. and no fruits. Mounted on the same sheet there are 3 other pieces with the label ″macrocarpus″ in Nuttall′s hand but without the asterisk (which he used to denote new species in some cases); all of these have alternate lvs., small and otherwise as in the spm. at B.M.; two have capsules 6 mm. in diam., or 8 mm. if the spread of the 3 prominent horns is included. There are no other spms. here from Nuttall. All other collections of macrocarpus here have alternate lvs., except one doubtful broad-leaved one without fruits. - Negative at University of California.
