Habitat  ?   Numerous specimens of this probably hybrid occur in the belt of C. papillosus on the Ocean View Trail. Differences that seem to set it apart from this species are not merely a matter of foliage but of the habit of the shrub, and perhaps of its time of flowering. C. oliganthus and a low form of C. spinosus are scattered through the same belt.
