Growing in shade of Pinus monopylla and Quercus, alongside old dirt road, at base of NW-facing slope, in gravelly soil at base of boulders. Associated with Arabis, Ericameria cf. laricifolia, Garrya flavescens, Gutierrezia, Penstemon eatonii, Pinus monophylla, Poa seconda, Quercus, Silene verecunda, and Yucca baccata.
