Habitat  ?   In dense forest, white fir-sugar pine-Sequoia forest. No ground cover except occasional herbs (Arabis repanda, Gayophytum, Galium, etc.) 
Notes  ?   Herbage reddish; lvs in rosette, often very red beneath, upper surface dark green with veins conspicuously outlined in white; stamens yellow petals cream with slight greenish cast. Most common herb in the area.
