Coniferous forest dominated by Pinus lambertiana, P. jeffreyi, and Abies concolor; understory relatively open, or with scattered shrubs such as Quercus chrysolepis, Ceanothus leucodermis, Rhamnus californica (s.l.), Artemisia tridentatum, Chrysothamnus nauseosus, etc. Understory associates include Eriogonum wrightii subscaposum, E. umbellatum munzii, Poa secunda, Erysimum capitatum, Galium jepsonii, Lotus davidsonii, Pedicularis semibarbata, etc. Notes ? Annual, scattered locally and not uncommon. Basal leaves ina rosette, soemwhat cobwebby; inflorescence branches spreading, glandular; corolla with narrow tube (purple), broad throat (yellow below; purple above), and expanded limb: lobes rich purple distally, bluish at junction with throat.
