Habitat  ?   Meadow, clay-loam and clay, nearly level to rolling. Associates: Lotus purhianus, Chlorogalum pomeridianum, Chlorogalum purpureum, Trifolium spp., Navarretia atractyloides, Triphysaria eriantha, Nassella pulchra, Melica imperfecta, Poa secunda, Briza minor. 
Notes  ?   Locally common. Annual, erect to 3 dm tall. Bracts purple-tipped toward apex of inflorescence. Corolla tube purple, pouches white, upper lobe purple.
