Habitat  ?   In foothill woodlands section at foot of hill below old garden office, bottom of canyon. Densely planted area with many trees. 
Notes  ?   Tree with straight erect trunk. Bark dark and scaly. Only one tree like this. Cultivated in UCR Botanical Garden. Acc. #67-513, grown from seeds coll. by R.C. Dixon in N Calif. in either Lake or San Joaquin Co. Vouchers from original colls. in UCR Herbarium, but data in bot. garden became confused. Lat/Long as stated is shown as +- 1000m. FRUIT separate.
