Habitat  ?   It is abundant on stream banks. The specimens were collected on a sawdust pile, as it was comparatively easy to dig up the rootstocks there. Numerous sprigs start near the sawdust covered area of about ten acres, flowing through and under the sawdust. Quite a number of species are found apparently growing in sawdust.
