Tejon Pass, 4 May 1920

The run down from the Ridge Road into the northwesterly arm of the Mohave Desert over which we have a limited view, but a fair view of the double peaks at Tehachapi. We enter and run thru the pass. The outstanding feature in the pass is the stately assemblage of Valley Oaks (Quercus lobata). Coming down the last ridge off the Ridge Road I noticed the Black Oak (Quercus californica) and I think also Quercus lobata on the lower slopes.

When we near it we find it is a lupine in full flower. No. 8939 Lupinus nanus Dougl. var. menkerae C.P.Sm.
