San Diego Co., Vallecito, rocky traverse at head of (La Puerta)

-"Near the center of Vallecito there are great quantities of Hesperocallis undulata. The cattle do not touch it for some time and then in two weeks they clean it up"--acc. James McMillan of Mason Valley.

No. 8625. Sphaeralcea ambigua Gray.
Cor. deep apricot yellow. Stems many from the base, little or not at all branched, 2 to 3 ft. h. Stigmas 15, capitate, black.

No. 8626. Cryptantha barbigera Greene.

No. 8627. Nicotiana trigonophylla Dunal.
Bushy-branching, 1 to 3 ft. h. cor. dull white or, better, very pale cream. Remarkable for its auricled leaves. Base of rocks.

No. 8628. Physalis crassifolia Bth.
Cor. buckskin yellow.

No. 8629. Pterostegia drymarioides F. & M.
Shade of rocks.

No. 8630. Parietaria floridana Nutt.

Franseria dumosa, abundant.
Larrea tridentata, common but not abundant as in the Lower Vallecito.

abundant, 1 to 2 ft. h.

No. 8631.
Only one individual seen.

No. 8632. Cheilanthes viscida Davenp.
These two ferns, 8631 & 8632 grew in shade of rocks.

No. 8633. Asclepias albicans Wats. det. R.CB. 11/20/60 [note in determiner's hand: Unfortunately this specimen is cited in the Flora (as A. subulata)! No duplicates found.]

Stems entirely leafless, one plant 9 ft. 2 in. high!
