Purpus, C.A.
Calendar of his Collecting Trips in Cal. [California]

1898 Apr. Potter Valley.
1895, Apr. Potter Valley. Vaccinium ovatum.
1896, Aug. Little Kern River. No. 2032. Monardella odoratissima. 9-10,000 ft.

1897, July. Bear Creek. Monardella lanceolata. "3-4,000 ft." no. 5040.
(Purpus marks such labels "middle California.") This is probably Kern Co. [County], Sierra Nevada.
1894, July. Sur Gerolle des Eel River. No. 1250.
This loc. [location] must have been north of Potter Valley on the main Eel, I take it.
Mar. Potter Valley. Cynoglossum grande. no. 3088.
Apr. Potter Valley. Orthocarpus erianthus. no. 3093.
1897. June. Paiute Peak, Kern Co. [County]. Penstemon palmeri var. grinnellii.
1895, Aug. Little Kern River. Penstemon palmeri var. grinnellii.

For Kern Co. [County] in southern Sierra Nevada, Purpus used both the general terms, "Middle Cal," and "SE. Cal." He also used "SW Cal. to s. Utah," without specific indication of state, but giving a locality.
