27_34 Mohave Desert, Kramer ---------- No. 5326. Astragalus lentiginosus Dougl. var. fremontii Wats. Cor. rose purple. Banner almost 1/3 longer than keels, notched. Wing pets oblong, with marked narrow auricle. Keel pets. about as long as wings, with strong but not as narrow auricles. No. 5327. Stillingia linearifolia Wats. var. paucidentata Jepson [paucidentata Wats.] Unisexual fls: -- Stamens 2, diverging like a Y as exserted from the calyx, which is 2-lipped, the lips approximate by the tips around the filaments. Upper lip 3-toothed, the lower indefinitely (3, 4, 5 ?)-toothed. Female fls. 2, at base of spike, no calyx, 3-lobed ovary and 5 styles, the [illegible] shorter, smaller & central. Filaments |
27_35 1 May 1913. 2479 ft. ---------- very much exserted. No. 5328 Lycium andersonii Gray. Densely branched shrub 2 ft. h, the numerous branchlets densely covered with jug-like or "flattened jug-like" leaves". Corolla narrowly funnelform. [Remarkable for its pouch-like leaves like little bags of water, pear-shaped globose but a little flattened.] No. 5329. Lycium cooperi Gray. Corolla lobes revolute and strongly but not closely reflexed! the corolla large. Flowering abundantly. Shrub 2 to 3 ft. h., the branches and branchlets set at right angles, the bark whitish, fissuring lightly longitudinally and revealing a brownish network of the under bark.
