- Coleman, G.A., Curator in Entomology, U.C. says: -- Phryguidia [?] has three broods in a year, the spring brood, the summer/fall brood, and the winter brood. This insect has flourished so well in the dry years of last 3 years that its attacks on the oaks at Monterey have become serious and some are dying. Spraying by the four towns there has been recommended. At Santa Barbara the oak-girdler is working serious injury to the trees but does not attack except on twigs affected by the oak blight apparently. It follows up the disease.
