27_164 Berkeley ---------- posession of this plant since 1791 and had collected it long before any one else, but he waited so long that he was antedated one year by Abronia latifolia Eschscholtz. Cf. Bull. Torr. Club, 29:681 (1902). - Quercus wislizenii. Sometimes young trees are cut for Christmas trees at Oakdale. 27_165 Oct.-Nov. 1913. ---------- - Coleman, G.A., Curator in Entomology, U.C. says: -- Phryguidia [?] has three broods in a year, the spring brood, the summer/fall brood, and the winter brood. This insect has flourished so well in the dry years of last 3 years that its attacks on the oaks at Monterey have become serious and some are dying. Spraying by the four towns there has been recommended. At Santa Barbara the oak-girdler is working serious injury to the trees but does not attack except on twigs affected by the oak blight apparently. It follows up the disease.
