- Brigham, director of the Bishop Museum in Honolulu,
called this morning.
A great big jolly fine-looking old fellow, bushy white beard.
Everything is fun there.
He has a humorous or interesting side to every incident and every
thing which has a history "The olive thrives there but does not even flower.
The flowering time of the native thing depends on the dry season and is variable being about 10 mos.
He talked about bread fruit and the way to cook at it, if not ripe enough it [is like sour dough]

is like sour dough, if too ripe it is alcoholic, just right it is splendid.The Alligator Pears are very variable when raised from seed. The Durian smells to drive everybody out of the city but if you can hold your nose until you get started to eat you're lost because I believe with many others
that it is the most delicious fruit I ever tasted.
I think he said Jack fruit did not do well.
Mangoes he spoke of.
Also Deliciosa monstrosa.
Grapes (Isabella) can be had anytime of the year by proper pruning.
