Pepper Island Bolinas, Marin Co. [April 8, 1907. East side of rift.]
East side of rift=Earthquake fault.
Plumbago lanceolata, badly killed out, only a few plants showing any signs of life. Stumps in low places utterly dead black. Branched caudices 3 in. high. Species will not survive. (On west side of rift healthy and flourishing).
Grindelia cuneifolia. Shrubs all killed except a few in high places. Very marked and complete destruction. But there is a lot of it dead on the west (uplifted) side of rift!
