Re. Robert Brown. The British Columbia Botanical Association sent out Robert Brown in 1863. Very soon there was great dissatisfaction with Brown because of failure to write, to render accounts of the moneys spent, and finally the Association changed over botanically to W.F. Tohme and at the same time gave Tohme power of atty [attorney] to proceed against Brown. Brown's letters and statements of expenditures are in this library, the minutes of the British Columbia Expedition and Brown's letters (in part) being in two manuscript volumes. There are also loose letters and statements of accounts. A few items from Statement C follow:
