10_180 Ukiah No. 2247. Mimulus Bolanderi. Always (hereabouts) in best soil on the mountains. Lyon's Valley. Especially common where there has been a little cultivation of rich hillside soils. Odor very strongly tobacco-like. "Tobacco Mimulus" is an invention. No. 2248. Cirsium Breweri. Great quantity of it in a moist flat in Lyon's Vally -- I should say a pure acre of it -- very striking and conspicuous on accountof its peculiar silvery whiteness. Ceanothus integerrimus [H. & A. var. californicus (Kell.) Benson] says Purdy, who remarks its great variability in color. Same station as preceding. No. 2252. Apocynum [pumilum Greene, not A.] androsaemifolium. Lyon's Valley. Used by the Pomos for fibre, says Purdy, who also says they use Psoralea macrostachya. |
