Vaca Mts, via Mix's Canon. [= Weldon Canon.]
- The view from the crest was fine. Perhaps the finest view in California for comprehensiveness and comprehensibleness at one and the same time. The ridges are clean cut yet involved enough to be mysterious at certain points. Just below us lies the Arcadian valley of Gordon, Wooden & Capell. Ray [?] Canon is a long narrow cut and away further Berryesa Valley lay like a green sea with dark islets of Valley Oaks scattered over it. Mt. St. Helena, Cobb Mt and Uncle Sam looked as if of the same group. They are high commanding masses as seen

No. 2188. Echinocystis [Marah] Watsonii [(Cogn.) Greene] Leaves very glaucous beneath!! "stems slender not succulent"! pod naked at summit, otherwise covered with scattered weak spines, the spines perfectly glabrous. Pod small, 4-celled, 2 seeds in each cell, 8 in all but only six maturing; seeds round. Below Mix's.
