NotesLodgepole forest French Canyon up to ca. 10,400 ; subalpine forest to 11,000 (even 11,200 ) on favored rocky slopes; occas. Pinus albicaulis krumholtz to 11,200 -rare specimens to 12,000 ; basin mostly alpine with extensive areas herbaceous alpine cover. This Carex in a flattened spreading clump at creek edges in a quiet stretch well down slope toward next lake from small pond below 10,998 Moon Lake on lowest lake bench on S side of basin. Salix orestera along outlet creek and seepages good-sized Pinus albicaulis reduced to krumholtz on broken cliff to S; Many herbs.;
